“Supporting Seniors & Persons with Disabilities” is a community volunteer event dedicated to building a more inclusive, caring, and supportive environment for elderly individuals and persons with disabilities.
The event aims to encourage empathy, create connections, and empower vulnerable groups to feel seen, valued, and supported.
As a volunteer for the Supporting Seniors & Persons with Disabilities event, you will play a meaningful role in accompanying elderly participants and persons with disabilities throughout the program. Your main tasks include assisting with light mobility, offering friendly companionship, and ensuring participants feel safe and supported. Volunteers will also help facilitate creative activities such as drawing, simple crafts, or social interaction sessions. In addition, you will assist with distributing care packages, maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the activity area, and providing basic information or guidance when needed. Volunteers are encouraged to create a warm, respectful, and inclusive atmosphere so every participant feels valued and comfortably engaged.
Volunteers should possess a friendly attitude, strong empathy, and patience when interacting with seniors and persons with disabilities. No prior experience is required; however, the ability to work well in a team and communicate respectfully is essential. Volunteers must be physically fit enough to assist with light tasks, arrive on time, and commit to the full event duration. A genuine willingness to help and a positive mindset are key qualities we are looking for.
Volunteers are advised to bring comfortable clothing suitable for movement, closed-toe shoes, and a personal water bottle. You may also need a small notebook and pen for taking notes or instructions during the event. A volunteer ID badge (provided by the committee) must be worn at all times for identification. If needed, hand sanitizer and personal medication should be brought individually.
Volunteers are requested to attend a short briefing session before the event to understand roles, safety guidelines, and communication protocols. Maintaining respectful behavior, cultural sensitivity, and confidentiality regarding participants’ personal conditions is mandatory. Volunteers should remain attentive, follow the coordinator’s instructions, and be ready to offer extra assistance whenever required. Most importantly, volunteers are expected to uphold the spirit of inclusivity and compassion throughout the event.
