James believes that a meaningful life is shaped by how we serve, how we carry our responsibilities, and how we care for those around us. He is guided by the conviction that success should be shared, and that leadership is about creating opportunities for people and communities to grow and thrive.
In his work with the Rao Family Office, he is closely involved in stewarding the family’s long-term investments with discipline and foresight. At the Rao Family Foundation, he works hand in hand with community partners to support families, empower caregivers, and strengthen social inclusion through practical and well-designed programmes.
Beyond philanthropy and finance, he founded FriedRice Entertainment to bring people together through music and shared experiences across Asia. As an adjunct lecturer, he enjoys mentoring young financial professionals, and through his work with Singapore’s Citizen Consultative Committee, he stays closely connected to the needs and aspirations of everyday Singaporeans.
